The Green Tide: O&G Army on the rise!

Just wanted to remind everybody again about the merging of our 2 blogs – Horned Rat Rob and The Jungles of Lustria – into one central location for all of the things that we’re covering, and it’s now called The Midwest Gaming Alliance. I’ve been posting about my Orcs & Goblins army the last couple of weeks and will continue to do so there so please follow this link and check it out. My bro and I both make posts and have made it the home for the Wheat Shocker Tournament Series (next tournament is in Wichita, Kansas on June 14th). If you’ve enjoyed following this blog, please move on over to our new blog and follow there. You can expect the same great things I’ve been putting out here for the last 2 years except now there is another contributor, my brother Horned Rat Rob.

My latest addition is a custom made Mangler Squig (WIP). Nearly done with him, just need to add a few details like some drool from the mouth and maybe some scratches here and there. Make sure to visit the new blog for all the information as well as additional pictures. Here’s where I am so far, thanks for reading!

The Green Horde Rises…

Used without permission.

Hey all! Sorry it’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted anything. There’s been a lot going on with me lately and haven’t been able dedicate the kind of time that I want to my painting and modeling. However, I have recently gotten back into my work and finished up my Lizardmen army. I adjusted the Slann Mage Priest to have a new, scenic base and finished up the last movement tray for my Skink Skirmishers… Now that it’s all done I have set it to the side and have it in reserves for upcoming tournaments. I have been collecting several other armies here and there and am very excited to start playing and painting something else…

A Hero (or Villian?) rises...

So, first up… The Green Wave of Orcs & Goblins… I have always been intrigued by the O&G’s and their nature. I like the fluff about them and how they are bloodthirsty savages that have little to no regards for other races, even other greenskins! It really opens up things for the conversion aspect of this army and I already have some ideas in mind. It appears as though I’ve acquired about 4,000 points so I’ll have to make a list and field about 2,250 points. I’m not sure what I’m going to go with but I know for a fact the army will be led by a Black Orc Boss and have a few Savage Orc Shamans and Savage Orcs. These guys can pack a serious punch! And they are core units! I have some Night Goblins and of course some Fanatics. I don’t think I’m going to include the Arachnarok (sp?) spider in my army list… they just don’t do enough to validate spending 300 points on ’em… However, because I have a lot of models it will give me the option of switching some things up and playtest several different looking armies. Here’s a few pics of what I’ve put together so far. I’m excited to play a game with these guys and swtich over to a different style of play from my Lizardmen. There will be several updates coming up now that I have a few weeks to do some painting. I think I’m going to work on the Black Orc Big Boss first so stay tuned, he’ll be done this weekend hopefully.

Orc Boy Chariot.

Also in addition to my O&G madness, I’m working on some 40k stuff… Yes, my Deathwing army is now fully completed and ready for painting. I will literally have to learn the game all over again because it’s been at least 2 years since I last played. I want to branch out and get back into 40k so I can have some options when I go to the gaming store. Next after all of this will be working on my Cygnar army for Warmachine. So, as always, I have a lot of projects in works and will hopefully get busy soon and crank out some pics for everybody soon. Please check back soon, I won’t let my page go long without an update during the next few weeks. Thanks for checking! Holla!

A Unit of Savage Orcs.

Lonewolf GT = No go…

Used without permission.

Sigh… so after much deliberation and brainstorming it appears that the much anticipated Lonewolf GT will not be in my plans for this year. I have spent the last few months prepping for this tournament and have been there the last 2 years in a row and was very much looking forward to a 3rd year. But alas, it was not meant to be. Although the reasoning is a good one (I accepted a permanent position and my official start date is April 8th, the same day the GT begins…) it is still somewhat of a downer because I was looking forward to competing with my newly painted / updated army and seeing some old faces again. Even though I got to play against my old gaming buddies last week it’s never the same when you know you have to leave and get back to the grind. So, I had to call up the tournament organizers of the Lonewolf and let them know that I won’t be attending. I’ll have to look forward to seeing Horned Rat Rob’s and Khorne53’s reports of how the weekend goes.

In the meantime, it hasn’t gotten me down from getting some more painting done and I was even able to squeeze in a game against the Orcs & Goblins, where I was able to pull out a win. Hard fought game and very enjoyable. The General of the O&G’s is a guy I’ve gotten to know over the last few weeks who is slowly converting over to WHFB… he’s been playing WH40K for a long time and he’s liking the change so far. This is the same guy that used the Nasty Skulkers to kill my Oldblood a few weeks ago… Read my rant about that here… Needless to say, I didn’t charge anything in for those guys to munch on this time. Anyways, he’s a real cool opponent and we have had a few good games so far. With the army I took, nearly all of it was complete with the exception of one movement tray. Once that’s done… there won’t be much left.

So right now I’m trying to get motivated to finishing off my Lizardmen. I only have a few models left and then a unit of 20 Temple Guard to touch up. I try to keep telling myself to finish them now because if I switch armies it’ll be a long time before I come back to them. I’m very anxious to start working on my Deathwing (40k…. I know, I know…) and my Orcs & Goblins… However, I feel like I MUST finish off the Lizardmen before I can have some peace with them and start on newer projects. There’s just a little bit left… Somebody get me motivated!

I’ll be posting pics of the progress of what needs to be done. Just wanted to put something out since it’s been a few weeks since I’ve done so. Make sure and check back, I feel a finished unit coming up soon. Peace!
